Lauriston Pommeau de Normandie Christian Drouin 17% 700ml
$55.00
Lauriston Pommeau de Normandie Christian Drouin 17% 700ml: Pommeau is obtained by blending Calvados with cider-apple juice. The cider-apple juice (the must) is mixed before fermentation with Calvados in the proportion 3/4 must to 1/4 Calvados of 65°. The essential mellowness is the result of ageing in oak casks. This aperitif full of flavor has a strength of 16° to 18°. It should be served chilled in a tulip glass. It is perfect in a scooped-out melon, with foie gras or with an apple dessert ; much appreciated for the confection of cocktails, it also works wonders in the kitchen as an ingredient in sauces and creams.   "The Pommeau de Normandie "Coeur de Lion" is exuberantly fruity, slips down the throat far too easily given its 17% alcohol content, and once in the mouth, its freshness as well as its aroma of baked apples and buttery brown sugar are quite fascinating".   Awards: Robert M. Parker gave Pommeau de Normandie "Coeur de Lion" a 92/Very Highly Médaille d'Argent, Concours Général Agricole de Paris 2014 Médaille d'Argent, Challenge to the Best French Wine & Spirits Competition Hong Kong 2014 Médaille d'Argent, Concours Général Agricole de Paris 2012 Médaille d'Argent, Challenge to the Best French Wine & Spirits Competition Hong Kong 2012     For more Comte Louis de Lauriston, CLICK HERE

This lot aged in a small clay cellar, in an old 40 hectoliters barrel which contained more than 200 litres of lees. It continues to age in very old 350-litre cognac barrels since 2013 in our cellars in Chermignac. Fruity and elegant nose, notes of pastry. On the palate, the fruit is ripe and greedy but supported by a very great minerality. Very little sugar, and a remarkable acidity which gives this MMC an unprecedented scale.
