MMC1 stands for "mout mute au Cognac" or must blended with Cognac. It is made from fresh grape musts, added to Cognac, and aged together for 7 years minimum in french oak barrels. The MMC1 was made at a small estate in Petite Champagne. Bottled without any addition of sulphur nor sugar. Limited quantities.
Straw yellow colour. On the nose, lots of fruit and minerality. On the palate, very soft, not very sweet. Nice acidity, balanced.
Grosperrin Orange d'Or Liqueur 4YO (Blend of Cognac, Armagnac 1979, French Brandy, in Bourbon cask) Blaccurrant buds finish - 19th Century style
A blend of rare alcohols, natural essences of bitter oranges, sugar, very old Armagnacs, French Brandy and Cognac, all aged for a minimum of 4 years in former American Bourbon barrels.

This vintage Cognac comes from a farm of around twenty hectares of vines called "La Petite Chapelle", located in the town of Champmillon. The two plots that produced this Cognac have been cultivated in organic farming since 1990 by a single woman, having taken over her father's activity when he died. It is, therefore, one of the oldest organic productions in the Cognac region.
This cognac is typical from a beautiful Fins Bois of ten years old, with its fresh fruit and citrus fruits fawner notes. On the nose, distillation aromas have left and it still stays fresh grapefruit notes, which reminds some white wines. There is also warmer notes of white peach skin at the sun, and apricot. In the mouth, freshness and naturality of this cognac are striking. We find again these fruity notes, but they are extended with more complex aromas, like a bunch of dried flowers forgotten on a table by a summer day. On final, floral notes are amplified (jonquil, narcissus), quickly overlapped by grapefruits notes, zest of orange, and fresh spices. A beautiful cognac.

A unique French fortified aperitif, perfect gift for the wine or spirit lover who has tried everything...
This unique lot was produced in Borderies in 1979 (with a must from the 1979 harvest and cognac from 1978), the vintage has been validated by the DGCCRF. This lot aged in a small clay cellar, in an old 40 hectoliters barrel which contained more than 200 litres of lees. It continues to age in very old 350-litre cognac barrels since 2013 in our cellars in Chermignac. Fruity and elegant nose, notes of pastry. On the palate, the fruit is ripe and greedy but supported by a very great minerality. Very little sugar, and a remarkable acidity which gives this MMC an unprecedented scale.
This extraordinary Cognac originates from the Petite Champagne cru, cultivated on a small estate within the charming Sainte-Lheurine commune. Its journey begins in a traditional clay-floored cellar, where it undergoes its initial aging. Subsequently, it matures in the esteemed Grosperrin cellars in Chermignac.
The resulting Cognac is a testament to the artistry and terroir that define this exquisite offering. With an ABV of 50.9%, it exudes full-bodied richness and a profusion of flavours that reflect its origin.
Notes of elegant candied fruits (apples and mango), vanilla, sandalwood, toffee, blond tobacco, dried flowers, rose water, acidic grapes and tannic oak. This is a full-bodied, fully-flavoured Cognac and an excellent expression of its terroir.
?C?pages? translates from French as ?grape varieties?, and refers to the three different grape strains used in this Cognac bottling. These grapes are: Colombard, Folle Blanche and Ugni Blanc. Each grape provides something different: Colombard provides power and depth, Ugni Blanc gives structure and balance, and Folle Blanche lends high tones and finesse. Grosperrin are better known for bottling ultra specific, single varietal Cognacs, so this is an interesting step from the producer.
Each of the grapes used to make this Cognac come from the premier cru of Grande Champagne. This Cognac contains a blend of several vintages, from 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. After distillation, the spirit was aged for a minimum of 4 years in French oak casks.
The final product delivers notes of fresh bright grapes, apples, some acacia honey, dried flowers, peppery spice, vanilla, creamy butter, spiced oak, and toffee. Once again, Grosperrin have produced a VSOP that is a cut above other Cognacs in this age grade.
This cognac V.S has been created from grapes selected from the best regions of Cognac, it has been bottled in our cellars located in the city of Saintes. Beautifully presented, this VS is aged for at least two years).
This vintage Cognac comes from a family of public notaries who has been located close to the city of Cognac for many generations. This Petite Champagne was part of the inheritance of the father, who had bequeathed his stocks of Cognac to his wife and his son, who was public notary like him. The father has bought this batch on January 1974 to one of his clients, who was at the time the President of one of the most important Cognac Houses. Unfortunately, when the father passed away, his wife and his son were in disagreement and the succession was blocked until we propose a solution. This is a very “sentimental” cognac, stored under State control since the 25th of January 1974, in a very humid cellar located on the bank of the Charente river in the city center of Cognac. This cellar is today the Cognac Museum. The harvest 1973 was abundant ( 62% compared to the harvest 1972 in Petite Champagne!) and was qualified of “harvest of the century” at the time.
Warm gold colour, with amber lights. The nose is rich and unctuous; ripe fruits, dark-red plums, Mirabelle plums, spices (curcuma, cardamom, pepper) and sandalwood, cedar scents. Surrounding the fruits, the lovely old rancio nose that well-matured Cognac develops. The taste increase the fruity delicacies (plums again, dark chocolate with cinnamon) and the spicy side (tobacco, nutmeg). At the end, slightly bitter as coffee beans, complexity and elegancy of a controlled rancio.
This vintage Cognac comes from a winegrower in the commune of Bonneville, located between Rouillac and Aigre. This small property in the locality of Patreville is typical of family farms in the region.
The 1990 harvest was stored at ORECO, under State control, from its distillation until June 2012, when we became owners. It has since been stored in one of our cellars, which is closed by a grid and placed under bailiff's seal.
Amber colour. On the nose, musky and vinous aromas (old Semillon), with a waxed sidelined with acetic notes. On the palate, greedy attack, the first notes confirm this characteristic nose, with a predominance of nutmeg and liquorice. It is a Cognac that is both supple and rustic, but increasingly greedy with aging.
Grosperrin Lot No.90 Grande Champagne is a rare Cognac that comes from a small property located in Verrières, on one of the most famous terroirs of Grande Champagne.
A delightfully well-aged Cognac like this one merits your utmost attention during the tasting. To be enjoyed neat at room temperature to appreciate the Cognac in its entirety. To allow the aromas to develop even further, try adding a drop of mineral water or a couple of ice cubes to the glass.
Tasting Notes:Nose: Powerful aromas typical of the Grande Champagne cru prevail with a clean and firm volume. It is a Cognac that expresses its terroir without pretence revealing notes of mirabelle plums, wet oak and undergrowth just after the rain.
Palate: Notes of candied fruit proceed into a long finish with hints of cassis and black cherry
This very old Cognac was bought from the widow, almost a hundred years old, of a man who died several years ago. Since then, the Eaux-de-vie have belonged to the family, made up of his widow and several children.
This family of winegrowers has been based in the village of Burie since 1930, in the very heart of the Borderies. It was on this date that the father of the deceased bought the property with his stocks.
The property is now managed by his grandson, who operates around thirty hectares on two small properties, renowned for the high quality of their Eaux-de-vie.
It is an extremely rare lot, which could have belonged to the range of Treasures, if it had not aged in such a dry cellar, which gave it great distinction and a lot of charm but maintained the degree at a still high level, reserving it for lovers of powerful spirits. It is presented with cask strength.
Tasting Notes:
Amber colour, old gold reflections. On the nose, a lot of elegance with spicy notes (turmeric, candied ginger), and an impressive freshness for such an old Cognac. The upright is straight and clean, yet rich and dense. The rancios are discreet and delicate. On the palate, the attack is oily, powerful without stinging or burning, and very straightforward. Candied fruit comes first, followed by candied ginger, all carried away by an elegant and remarkable rancio. The final never ends.
Tasting Notes:
Refined nose once opened after a few minutes in the glass: hawthorn, honey, toffee. The mouth is frank and precise, quiet classical: fresh grapes, pear almond tart, prunes. The finish is harmonious.
Grosperrom No. 67 Grande Champagne 47.5% 700ml
This Cognac comes from a winegrower in the Salles d-Angles region, whose father had large stocks built up by himself and previous generations. Stored for many years in small ten hectolitres casks placed in a small cellar on clay before entering Grosperrin cellars, where it remained in 350 litre barrels.
Very amber colour. Dense and complete nose, spices, rancio, prunes, dried flowers. Delicate and oily palate, light notes of undergrowth, bitter chocolate. Beautiful development, with a lot of elegance. The finish is generous and rich, well balanced, typical of a beautiful Grande Champagne. A very beautiful Cognac, as demanding as it is accessible.
This very old cognac comes from a joint-possession which was established at the death of the winegrower many years ago. His widow and children manage the inheritance with prudence and patience, in memory of this man. One of the grandsons took over the estate and it is now flourishing as one of the most important in the Borderies region. The Grandfather’s stock is however managed separately, and kept in a cellar in the centre of the village of Burie, located in the heart of the Borderies. We became the owners of this exceptional cognac through a certified broker. It has since then aged in our cellar in Saintes, on the bank of the Charente river, where a small water reduction was carried out over 2 years ago.
Old gold colour, amber highlights. The first floral nose, typical of the Borderies expresses itself clearly, with notes of violet sweets (they do exist, in France at least!), dried flowers, spicy roses. The second nose is more profound, denser, and we distinguish an elegant rancio, but without too much woodiness, induced by the oxidation of the fat contained in the alcohol, which time has made noble. The spices are more intense, cigar boxes, liquorice, more “mature”. The attack is frank, mineral on the palate, we are immediately touched by the quality of the cognac. It develops in a powerful and yet contained way, the texture reveals itself as being quite oily. The long finish takes us back to the aromas perceived on the nose. Very elegant, a beautiful Borderies.
The Cognac de Collection Jean Grosperrin – Artisanal Vintages is a remarkable representation of the deep-rooted tradition and expertise in cognac production in France, now available for enthusiasts in Australia. Jean Grosperrin, a cognac broker in the Cognac region, played a pivotal role in this tradition. A broker's task in eaux-de-vie is crucial yet understated, bridging the gap between producers and buyers and evaluating the quality of the eaux-de-vie.
Jean Grosperrin's profession led him to numerous cellars, where he assessed various batches of cognac, including some exceptionally old and rare ones. It's common for vine growers in the region to distil their own harvest and, like their ancestors, keep a reserve of cognac barrels in their cellars. These family treasures, steeped in history and rarity, are seldom sold, and transactions are highly confidential.
Jean, and later his son Guilhem since 2004, dedicated themselves to acquiring these unique cognacs, often characterized by their atypical profiles and strong personalities, across all Cognac appellations. Their pursuit is not just about the spirit itself but also involves delving into documents and family histories, which adds layers of stories and anecdotes to each cognac they select.
The tasting notes of Cognac de Collection Jean Grosperrin are known for being precise, succinct, and honest, devoid of unnecessary praise or falsehoods. Their selections and vintages are nothing short of astonishing, often leading to their supplies running out quickly due to their success.
For connoisseurs in Australia, the availability of Cognac de Collection Jean Grosperrin offers a rare opportunity to experience these unique and carefully curated artisanal vintages. Each bottle from this collection is not just a drink; it's a piece of history, offering a glimpse into the rich heritage and meticulous craftsmanship of the Cognac region.
