Description

V.S.O.P. Rhum patiently ages in our cellar for a minimum of four years before being bottled in Martinique. The Rhum spends three years in re-charred Bourbon barrels and then is transferred to new American oak barrels for at least one more year before it is ready to be bottled. Its full-bodied and intense flavour makes it the ideal rum to drink neat, with an ice cube, or in cocktails.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Exotic fruit notes are dominant in the initial impression (lychee, mango, flambeed banana). The aromatic palette reveals a hint of quince conserve while enhancing the delicate aroma of vanilla bean and a mellow woody undertone.

Palate: Exotic fruit recalls the aromatic notes of this rum, which are heightened on the palate by sweet spices like vanilla and cinnamon. The sweetness of gingerbread and floral honey mingles with slightly smoky roasted and woody notes. The texture is structure and even, with a good balance between the different aromatic notes.

Finish: The finish is structured and harmonious, with a nice balance between all the notes of the nose and palate.

Perfect for sipping or in Old-Fashioned or Manhattan

Each one of our bottles is taste-tested and hand-chosen by some of the best palates in the southern hemisphere. Only once a bottle has been deemed crème de la crème, do we add it to our catalog. Finding the perfect bottle isn't always easy - but with us, it is.

Rhum J.M

Macouba, Martinique

Rhum Agricole

Rhum J.M

The distillery, founded by Jean Marie Martin (J.M) is located in the North of Martinique Island (French West Indies) and is renowned to be the most prestigious brand for aged Agricole rums. The AOC Rhum Agricole de la Martinique restricts production to the short, best season for the cane to pack aromas, compels that all and only the fresh juice of the cane be used, contrary to 95% of the world rums using the left-overs (Molasses, stalks) of the sugar refining industry. Agricole Rum belongs to the world of cognac or Armagnac, whereas Traditional Rum (also known as Industrial) is in the grappa/pomace world.

Lately, and confidently they have experimented with unusual cask finishes, going for casks far more complex than the usual props for whiskies i.e. sherry, port, Madeira, and fortified sweet wines. They have gone for Calvados, Cognac, and Armagnac casks and longer maturations. So brilliant were the results that all were sold in a few days.
