Tokinoka, which translates as the "fragrance of time", is a product of the White Oak Distillery, a site with deep historical significance as the first in Japan to obtain a whisky-distilling licence in 1919. While the company’s roots date back to 1679 as a sake producer, their whisky operation remains boutique, with copper pot stills that run for only a few months each year. This limited production allows for a high degree of artisanal control, resulting in a blended whisky known for its roundness and finesse. By marrying malt and grain whiskies matured in a variety of vessels—including ex-bourbon, sherry, and shochu casks—Tokinoka offers a profile defined by notes of honeyed cereal, yellow fruits, and a delicate woodiness. This commitment to small-batch quality has allowed the brand to remain a distinctive, "under-the-radar" favourite within the global Japanese whisky market.
