Description
Lauriston Pommeau de Normandie Christian Drouin 17% 700ml: Pommeau is obtained by blending Calvados with cider-apple juice. The cider-apple juice (the must) is mixed before fermentation with Calvados in the proportion 3/4 must to 1/4 Calvados of 65°. The essential mellowness is the result of ageing in oak casks. This aperitif full of flavor has a strength of 16° to 18°. It should be served chilled in a tulip glass. It is perfect in a scooped-out melon, with foie gras or with an apple dessert ; much appreciated for the confection of cocktails, it also works wonders in the kitchen as an ingredient in sauces and creams. "The Pommeau de Normandie "Coeur de Lion" is exuberantly fruity, slips down the throat far too easily given its 17% alcohol content, and once in the mouth, its freshness as well as its aroma of baked apples and buttery brown sugar are quite fascinating". Awards: Robert M. Parker gave Pommeau de Normandie "Coeur de Lion" a 92/Very Highly Médaille d'Argent, Concours Général Agricole de Paris 2014 Médaille d'Argent, Challenge to the Best French Wine & Spirits Competition Hong Kong 2014 Médaille d'Argent, Concours Général Agricole de Paris 2012 Médaille d'Argent, Challenge to the Best French Wine & Spirits Competition Hong Kong 2012 For more Comte Louis de Lauriston, CLICK HERE

Christian Drouin

Christian Drouin is one of Normandy's most celebrated Calvados houses — a family distillery in the Pays d'Auge rather than a single individual. It was founded in 1960 by Christian Drouin senior, an industrialist from Rouen who bought a farm at Gonneville with cider-apple orchards and set out to make the finest Calvados he could. His son, Christian Drouin junior, joined the business and began selling only in 1979, once stocks had matured; having spent a decade abroad, he steered the house toward export and specialised in rare, very old Calvados for the world's best hotels and restaurants. The third generation, Guillaume Drouin, now runs it.

Today the house produces Calvados, ciders, perries and gin, and has won over 300 gold medals, exporting to 55 countries. Its style is defined by long cask ageing and meticulous blending across dozens of cider-apple varieties.
