Description

A classic Irish style, reimagined by a modern farm distillery. Made from a traditional mash bill of 60% malted and 40% unmalted barley, this Single Pot Still whiskey is triple distilled for smoothness and complexity. With no added colouring and bottled at 46%, it delivers purity, authenticity, and plenty of character.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Warm and inviting, with caramel-toffee richness, soft oak vanilla, malted cereals, and a subtle whisper of coconut.

Palate: Rich earth-driven malt with sweet spices of liquorice, cloves, dried fruit, and green cardamom. A little water elevates a creamy, silky mouthfeel.

Finish: Long, malty closure that shifts into cloved orange peel and a background of aniseed.

Ballykeefe Whisky is special in a number of ways, but in our view the most special aspect is the 'grain to glass' production. On a single estate family farm in Kilkenny, the Ging family grow their own barley to create their whisky on-site, using bespoke Italian copper stills to make a range of spirits. The production process emphasises sustainability, with waste by-products from distillation fed back to the farm's livestock.

Ballykeefe Distillery has received multiple national and international awards. Their trio of Ballykeefe Gins are all gold medal winners, and their Poitín was awarded Master Class at the 2018 Global Spirits Masters. They were also granted a further award of Gold at the Irish Whiskey Awards 2018.

Their spirits are a must-try.
