Pays d'Auge is a sub region of Calvados, where the oldest orchards are found and double distillation under wood fire is compulsory. This region has the highest reputation for quality Calvados. Roger Groult 8 Years Old Calvados is already showing aromas and flavours of stewed apple, honey, cinnamon, vanilla and has a silky texture. This eight-year-old Calvados from Roger Groult expertly balances the freshness and fruitiness of youthful Eaux-de-vie with more mature cinnamon and vanilla flavours from the ageing process. This can be enjoyed with ice as an aperitif, at room temperature after dinner, or with the cheeseboard. A good starting point for discovering Calvados, which would also pleased connoisseurs.

About The Producer

Founded by Pierre Groult in 1860, the Domaine has been making excellent Calvados ever since. Distilling his cider and to age the eau-de-vie produced in oak barrels: Calvados Groult was born. Through his hard work, its production methods and a beautiful terroir, its Calvados quickly obtained a good reputation. He won his first gold medal in 1893. Now run by fifth-generation Jean-Roger Groult, the house continues to win awards, especially the 3-Year-Old, which was awarded World's Best Calvados at the World Drinks Awards in 2014 and 2018

Gutsy Calvados - Real French Tradition

First, hats off off that Spirits of France offer us such great choices. For this particular beverage, I'd say it has a strong eau-de-vie boquet and initial palate, but it quickly follows with the apple flavours you'd expect, and finishes with a long pleasing after taste. I'm not an expert, but so glad I tried something different.
