Description

Nose: Fragrant and fruity—notes of plum, peach, apple, pear, delicate mascarpone creaminess, cardamom bun with pearl sugar, warm straw, and granary toast with marmalade.

Palate: Light to medium-bodied with baked stone fruits, cinnamon biscuit, roasted fennel, crème brûlée, Scotch pancakes with syrup, and a hint of lemon peel. Slight oiliness adds mouthfeel.

Finish: Medium-long with lingering toffee apple, vanilla paste, gentle grain warmth, and lingering sweetness.

Sasanokawa Shuzo

Sasanokawa Shuzo, the producer of Yamazakura whisky, is one of Japan's oldest sake breweries, founded in 1765. The company began producing whisky in 1946, and after obtaining their own Asaka Distillery, they released Yamazakura's first Japanese single malt whisky in 2024. The name Yamazakura means "mountain cherry blossoms" and reflects the natural beauty of Japan's landscape.

The distillery began producing whisky in 1946, originally to supply American occupation troops. The distillery was refounded in 2016, blending its traditional craft with a new, experimental approach to whisky making.

Yamazakura whiskies has won accolades like gold at the World Whiskies Awards and Silver at the International Spirits Challenge.
