Description
The VSOP Dudognon Cognac is a young Cognac of great finesse. It develops aromas of vanilla, woody and exotic fruits. As our ancestors taught us, we distil over a wood fire in two copper stills dating from 1901 and 1936. The Cognac thus collected is aged in new Limousin oak barrels without sugar, wood or caramel.

VSOP can be enjoyed as an aperitif on ice or in cocktails. It will go well with a fresh sheep’s cheese or Roquefort cheese.

Grape variety: 10% Montils, 90% Ugni-blanc

Tasting Notes:

Eye: Clear and bright with a golden colour

Nose: Elegant and vanilla, delicately woody and fruity.

Palate: Round and “fresh”, aromatic persistence. After aeration, notes of honey.

Each one of our bottles is taste-tested and hand-chosen by some of the best palates in the southern hemisphere. Only once a bottle has been deemed crème de la crème, do we add it to our catalog. Finding the perfect bottle isn't always easy - but with us, it is.

Cognac

Dudognon

Maison Dudognon boasts a rich history in Cognac’s premier cru: Grande Champagne. From their beginnings as grower-traders in 1776, to the post-1970 shift away from selling to the big Cognac houses, the Dudognon family has remained fiercely dedicated to quality.

Their reputation is built on old Ugni Blanc vines, tiny alembic stills, and a commitment to traditional craftsmanship—including seasoning their own oak and making their own barrels. Their Cognacs are considered among the purest available: no additives, no caramel coloring, no boisé—just the raw expression of vineyard and time.

The ‘Vieille Réserve’ is a standout: a blend of casks averaging 20 years old. This is just enough time for the chalk-rich vineyards of Grande Champagne to shed their austere youth and reveal layers of fruit, nuttiness, and the signature “Peacock Tail” finish—an ethereal, aromatic return from the back palate, unique to this terroir.

While Ugni Blanc remains the dominant grape, Maison Dudognon has recently reintroduced Montils and Folle Blanche—varieties nearly lost after the 1960s. Folle Blanche, an early ripener, is harvested and vinified separately, followed by Montils and Ugni Blanc. The result: aromatic white wines, distilled into elegant, expressive Cognacs.
