Gold color, intense. Brown reflections. The nose is marked by the long aging: cigar box, leather, liquorice, nutmeg, toast, gingerbread, toffee. However, the nose stays fresh and light. We find these balsamic aromas, licorice, chocolate on the palate with a more spicy finish: white pepper, candied ginger. Nice length in the mouth.

This range was born from Marc Darroze's desire to experiment with organic farming on the terroirs of Gascony. In close collaboration with some of the house's partner winegrowers, this range has been built up little by little, from the vineyard to bottling, over the years of aging perfectly mastered. The crazy white grape variety is favoured in the range, even though it remains the most sensitive and delicate to produce. Its finesse and elegance will be sublimated by these production conditions. respectful. The hand and the experience of the producer are therefore essential in order to pay full attention peculiar to these organic vines which will ultimately produce an Armagnac of rare purity and exhilarating richness. A return to the roots, to the beginning, where Armagnac suffered only the vagaries of nature without any other alteration. Time will then do its work and let Armagnac reveal all these aromas.Tasting Notes: Straw yellow colour. The nose is fruity (candied orange peel, dried apricot, prune, mango), spicy (fine spices, vanilla). There are also pastry flavours (honey, brioche, almond). The nose is very fine and delicate. Finesse in the mouth, thanks to light, silky tannins. Pretty roundness in the mouth despite its young age. We find fruity aromas of the nose, spices. Nice length in the mouth.

Domaine Boingneres 1985 Cepages Nobles Grand Bas Armagnac 49% 700ml

This bottling bears the phrase “Cépages Nobles” meaning “noble grapes”, a reference to the high-quality Folle Blanche and Colombard grapes used to produce this marvellous bottling. It is another in a line of excellent single vintage releases from the small-scale producer Domaine Boingnères. This is a distillery with an unerring commitment to quality, using the majority of their small 50 acre vineyards to grow the challenging, yet delicious, Folle Blanche grape. The same family has farmed this land since 1807 and is now in its 6th generation. Furthermore, the distillery refuses to use any caramel colouring or chill-filtration and is often bottled at cask strength. They continue to use traditional continuous alembics, which run non-stop during the 20 day distilling season. The Domaine often distils as low as 52%, meaning that no dilution is required before casking or bottling, and the maximum flavour is ensured. Maturation occurs in a small barn on the estate in French oak casks, some (like this bottling) resting for many decades. The resulting Armagnac is of the highest quality, with a breathtaking balance between delicious, oily, spicy fruit, and robust, decadent oak. A fantastic bottle from one of the best in the industry. Colour: Quite intense but deep. Smell: vast fineness of the nose, peach, grape, apricot and melon, darker undertones of chocolate and a limited flow of wood, plum and marzipan. Mouth: dry, fruity, sweet and light and dark at the same time.
