Normandin-Mercier Cognac Petite Champagne 1976 41.4% 500ml

The Normandin Mercier 1976 Cognac is a single vintage cognac that has been created with full respect for the purest methods of cognac production. The eaux-de-vie was first aged for 18 months in new oak barrels. These were then toasted slightly to further allow for the aromas to be infused to the liquid within. Finally the eaux-de-vie was moved to ancient barrels to complete the aging process. Each step was overseen by the BNIC. This cognac was well-deservedly awarded the gold medal in the International Wine and Spirits Competition 2016. Well balanced, both on the nose and on the palate. Aromas of lily and orange bark. a very natural cognac.

Normandin-Mercier Cognac Tres Vieille 100 years+ (1880-1914) Grand Champagne 40% 700ml
$2,106.00
The average age of the cognacs in this extraordinary Grande Champagne assemblage is at least 70 years, the oldest dating to 1872 when the Normandin-Mercier house was first founded. What little remains of this original stock continue to age in very old oak, undisturbed. The combination is a truly outstanding cognac with profound aromas and a subtle, soft "rancio" in its perfectly balanced rich, long taste of incomparable smoothness. Its 40% alcoholic strength is achieved entirely naturally, with no requirement for dilution. The simplest of labels understates the quality of this cognac. Tasting Notes: Eye: copper-coloured mahogany with reddish copper-coloured reflections. Nose: dominants fruity (candied fruits, dried fruits), empyreumatique (chocolate, burned (blown) out, smoked coffee(cafe)), rancio (Porto, wine storehouse of spirit), wooden (old barrel, limps in a cigar), spiced (cinnamon, vanilla, licorice, saffron). Notes: floral (pink)((rose)), vegetable (tobacco, lime tree), sweetened (honey). Palate: ample, powerful, aromatic. Fruity (dried fruits), rancio, empyreumatique, spiced (vanilla), wooden, very long.
Grosperrin 'Cognac De Collection' 1973 Petite Champagne 48.5% 700ml | Brandy | Shop online at Spirits of France
Grosperrin 'Cognac De Collection' 1973 Petite Champagne 48.5% 700ml
$679.00
This vintage Cognac comes from a family of public notaries who has been located close to the city of Cognac for many generations. This Petite Champagne was part of the inheritance of the father, who had bequeathed his stocks of Cognac to his wife and his son, who was public notary like him. The father has bought this batch on January 1974 to one of his clients, who was at the time the President of one of the most important Cognac Houses. Unfortunately, when the father passed away, his wife and his son were in disagreement and the succession was blocked until we propose a solution. This is a very “sentimental” cognac, stored under State control since the 25th of January 1974, in a very humid cellar located on the bank of the Charente river in the city center of Cognac. This cellar is today the Cognac Museum. The harvest 1973 was abundant ( 62% compared to the harvest 1972 in Petite Champagne!) and was qualified of “harvest of the century” at the time. Warm gold colour, with amber lights. The nose is rich and unctuous; ripe fruits, dark-red plums, Mirabelle plums, spices (curcuma, cardamom, pepper) and sandalwood, cedar scents. Surrounding the fruits, the lovely old rancio nose that well-matured Cognac develops. The taste increase the fruity delicacies (plums again, dark chocolate with cinnamon) and the spicy side (tobacco, nutmeg). At the end, slightly bitter as coffee beans, complexity and elegancy of a controlled rancio.

Jean Fillioux 1953 Cognac 42% 350ml | Brandy | Shop online at Spirits of France
Jean Fillioux 1953 Cognac 42% 350ml
$923.00
This 1953 bottle of Jean Fillioux Cognac is about as extraordinary as it gets in the world of spirits. Few spirits of any description, let alone fine Cognacs such as this, ever get to reach such an age. The spirit has been resting in French Oak casks for an astounding 57 years, meaning it is truly a once in a lifetime bottle. This long aging process in the cellars of the Fillioux estate have produced some incredibly rich flavours, of full dried fruits, dark honey, old sherry, overripe bananas and flowers. This is a spirit that rewards patience with a glissando of aroma, flavour, and a finish that lasts and lasts. Comes complete with a beautiful wooden presentation box, and would make the ideal gift for any spirit lover. Note that due to the extreme scarcity of stock, this is a 350ml bottling. About the producer: Jean Fillioux is simply one of the very best when it comes to Cognac. The family owns a fantastic 63 acres vineyard in the heart of the Grande Champagne area since 1880. Since five generation they showcase how good a grower-producer Cognac taste, always light in style, fruit driven and elegant.
Paul Giraud Cognac Heritage 60 years Grande Champagne 40% 700ml | Brandy | Shop online at Spirits of France
Paul Giraud Cognac Heritage 60 years Grande Champagne 40% 700ml
$875.00
The only blend - with Noblesse - of our range, the Heritage is to be classified separately, both aromatically and historically. This cognac has reached the paroxysm of oxidation. The aromas that have lost freshness and intensity tend towards almonds, kernels and the famous "rancio" so characteristic of very very old cognacs. This taste is difficult to describe. It is found in old beeswax furniture or old walnut oils; it only appears after a very long aging. It can also be found in Porto, Sherry, Maury. Such an aroma is inimitable: only time does its work. This cognac is to be enjoyed religiously, with all due respect to a lady of 70 years.   CLICK HERE for more Paul Giraud

Jean Fillioux Grande Champagne Cognac 1964 44% 500ml
$1,091.00
This 1964 vintage from the Grande Champagne terroir is the fruit of the work of several generations, of a lifetime. Several decades were necessary to polish such a jewel. First in casks, then in dame-Jeanne, the eaux-de-vie of this cognac has remained hidden in the darkness of the cellar. Tasting Notes: The nose is powerful, and voluptuous, marked by aromas of Catalan cream, ripe stone fruit, beeswax and licorice. On the palate, there is a remarkably melted woody taste, of a bewitching complexity. Then this explosion of flavours: vanilla, fresh tobacco, exotic fruits and candied fruits. The whole is sublimated by an elegant rancio and an incredibly persistent saffron finish. It is necessary to take time, each sip inspires a new emotion…
