Description

DESCRIPTION:

Rums from Guatemala are known to be easy sipping ones. The influence from the local climate, the raw materials as well as the types of casks used (most frequently new American oak) are the results of their smoothness (when no sugar has been added of course). This distillery, based on the west side of the country, produces rums from its own brand “BOTRAN” but also for some bulk sales towards other actors of the industry like COMPAGNIE DES INDES. The fact that they are easy going rums with character makes it a great way to discover the Spanish styles of rums.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Quite surprisingly cozy and sweet, some Cane honey, white flowers, some pear, and a touch of white pepper.

Mouth: Smooth with vanilla hints, cinnamon, and honey. Also, they are some great hints of roasted bread and rye.

Finish: quite an impressive finish for a rum of this ABV. It leaves some delicious coffee notes.

Compagnie des Indes

Compagnie des Indes rums are produced with great care and elegance. The idea was brought to life in memory of the former East India Company from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries that selected rare commodities from distant continents and imported them to their countries. Like them, we select only the best qualities of rum from all over the world and import these to Europe. No matter if we speak about single casks or carefully selected blends we always focus on bringing out the character and qualities of each local origin. Florent from Compagnie des Indes roams the world constantly and amazes us with his Rum discoveries. One feels he does it for his pleasure because his selections have in common, elegance, lightness, naturalness, and authenticity. What rum always should have been, but rarely is nowadays, inflated by suspicious aromas and colors.
