Grosperrin Cognac De Collection 2001 ORGANIC aged 10 years, Fins Bois 47% 700ml
$260.00
This vintage Cognac comes from a farm of around twenty hectares of vines called "La Petite Chapelle", located in the town of Champmillon. The two plots that produced this Cognac have been cultivated in organic farming since 1990 by a single woman, having taken over her father's activity when he died. It is, therefore, one of the oldest organic productions in the Cognac region. This cognac is typical from a beautiful Fins Bois of ten years old, with its fresh fruit and citrus fruits fawner notes. On the nose, distillation aromas have left and it still stays fresh grapefruit notes, which reminds some white wines. There is also warmer notes of white peach skin at the sun, and apricot. In the mouth, freshness and naturality of this cognac are striking. We find again these fruity notes, but they are extended with more complex aromas, like a bunch of dried flowers forgotten on a table by a summer day. On final, floral notes are amplified (jonquil, narcissus), quickly overlapped by grapefruits notes, zest of orange, and fresh spices. A beautiful cognac.

A unique French fortified aperitif, perfect gift for the wine or spirit lover who has tried everything... This unique lot was produced in Borderies in 1979 (with a must from the 1979 harvest and cognac from 1978), the vintage has been validated by the DGCCRF. This lot aged in a small clay cellar, in an old 40 hectoliters barrel which contained more than 200 litres of lees. It continues to age in very old 350-litre cognac barrels since 2013 in our cellars in Chermignac. Fruity and elegant nose, notes of pastry. On the palate, the fruit is ripe and greedy but supported by a very great minerality. Very little sugar, and a remarkable acidity which gives this MMC an unprecedented scale.

?C?pages? translates from French as ?grape varieties?, and refers to the three different grape strains used in this Cognac bottling. These grapes are: Colombard, Folle Blanche and Ugni Blanc. Each grape provides something different: Colombard provides power and depth, Ugni Blanc gives structure and balance, and Folle Blanche lends high tones and finesse. Grosperrin are better known for bottling ultra specific, single varietal Cognacs, so this is an interesting step from the producer. Each of the grapes used to make this Cognac come from the premier cru of Grande Champagne. This Cognac contains a blend of several vintages, from 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. After distillation, the spirit was aged for a minimum of 4 years in French oak casks. The final product delivers notes of fresh bright grapes, apples, some acacia honey, dried flowers, peppery spice, vanilla, creamy butter, spiced oak, and toffee. Once again, Grosperrin have produced a VSOP that is a cut above other Cognacs in this age grade.

Grosperrin 'Cognac De Collection' 1973 Petite Champagne 48.5% 700ml
$679.00
This vintage Cognac comes from a family of public notaries who has been located close to the city of Cognac for many generations. This Petite Champagne was part of the inheritance of the father, who had bequeathed his stocks of Cognac to his wife and his son, who was public notary like him. The father has bought this batch on January 1974 to one of his clients, who was at the time the President of one of the most important Cognac Houses. Unfortunately, when the father passed away, his wife and his son were in disagreement and the succession was blocked until we propose a solution. This is a very “sentimental” cognac, stored under State control since the 25th of January 1974, in a very humid cellar located on the bank of the Charente river in the city center of Cognac. This cellar is today the Cognac Museum. The harvest 1973 was abundant ( 62% compared to the harvest 1972 in Petite Champagne!) and was qualified of “harvest of the century” at the time. Warm gold colour, with amber lights. The nose is rich and unctuous; ripe fruits, dark-red plums, Mirabelle plums, spices (curcuma, cardamom, pepper) and sandalwood, cedar scents. Surrounding the fruits, the lovely old rancio nose that well-matured Cognac develops. The taste increase the fruity delicacies (plums again, dark chocolate with cinnamon) and the spicy side (tobacco, nutmeg). At the end, slightly bitter as coffee beans, complexity and elegancy of a controlled rancio.

This vintage Cognac comes from a winegrower in the commune of Bonneville, located between Rouillac and Aigre. This small property in the locality of Patreville is typical of family farms in the region. The 1990 harvest was stored at ORECO, under State control, from its distillation until June 2012, when we became owners. It has since been stored in one of our cellars, which is closed by a grid and placed under bailiff's seal.  Amber colour. On the nose, musky and vinous aromas (old Semillon), with a waxed sidelined with acetic notes. On the palate, greedy attack, the first notes confirm this characteristic nose, with a predominance of nutmeg and liquorice. It is a Cognac that is both supple and rustic, but increasingly greedy with aging.

Grosperrin Cognac No.64 Borderies 52.1% 700ml
$861.00
This very old cognac comes from a joint-possession which was established at the death of the winegrower many years ago. His widow and children manage the inheritance with prudence and patience, in memory of this man. One of the grandsons took over the estate and it is now flourishing as one of the most important in the Borderies region. The Grandfather’s stock is however managed separately, and kept in a cellar in the centre of the village of Burie, located in the heart of the Borderies. We became the owners of this exceptional cognac through a certified broker. It has since then aged in our cellar in Saintes, on the bank of the Charente river, where a small water reduction was carried out over 2 years ago. Old gold colour, amber highlights. The first floral nose, typical of the Borderies expresses itself clearly, with notes of violet sweets (they do exist, in France at least!), dried flowers, spicy roses. The second nose is more profound, denser, and we distinguish an elegant rancio, but without too much woodiness, induced by the oxidation of the fat contained in the alcohol, which time has made noble. The spices are more intense, cigar boxes, liquorice, more “mature”. The attack is frank, mineral on the palate, we are immediately touched by the quality of the cognac. It develops in a powerful and yet contained way, the texture reveals itself as being quite oily. The long finish takes us back to the aromas perceived on the nose. Very elegant, a beautiful Borderies.

Grosperrin Cognac 1992 Petite Champagne 46.6% 700ml
$345.00
This vintage Cognac comes from a small exploitation of 12 hectares of vines located on one of the most beautiful terroirs of Petite Champagne, in Salles-de-Barbezieux. This small traditional farm cultivates both vines and cereals while having a few animals. Coming mainly from Ugni Blanc, this Cognac was then distilled in a small still on the property by the distiller. Old gold dress. On the nose, aromas of raisins, apricots and sun-ripened peaches, candied orange peels fill the glass. On the palate, the attack is frank and the power of its aromas is confirmed. The finish is quite woody, on fruits. The last reduction, about five years ago, opened up the aromas while preserving its balance. The aging in our humid cellars gave it a nice texture.
