Until the beginning of the 2000's, Mauritian law dating back from the British colonial era enforced distillers to distil at high abv, above 93 %. The island has experienced a true revival and historic distillers have been producing quality aromatic rums ever since for the export market Nose: Like a lovely stroll through spice stalls. Black pepper, cumin, rice, starchy notes but also some sweetness with salted caramel aromas. Mouth: Well-rounded and fruity. It then develops aromas of red berries (strawberries, gooseberries), then evolves to pure cane juice thus evoking its raw material. Finish: Surprisingly, despite being nice and easy to begin with, it has quite a bitter finish, giving it a delicious balance.

The idea was brought to life in memory of the former East India Company from the seventeenth and eighteenth century that selected rare commodities from distant continents and imported them to their countries.
