Palate: Intense, warm and enveloping with a farandole of fruit notes, like a basket of candied fruits coated with intense dark chocolate. It reveals a great delicacy and leaves one dreaming while tasting it.
Finish: Very persistent with notes of cocoa beans.

Another exceptional price/age ratio for a wood-aged spirit can be found in this majestic 40-year-old Bas Armagnac (the age statement here refers to the youngest Armagnac in the blend). The diversity in crus, vintages, grape varieties and styles has allowed Marc Darroze to work on his "Les Grands Assemblages" (The Great Blends), chosen for their complementary characteristics, the selected Armagnacs in each bottling are of different ages. After over four decades in 400-litre barrels, expect this to have evolved layers of sweet spices, candied fruits, rancio and super soft, round tannins.

This vintage Cognac comes from a small exploitation of 12 hectares of vines located on one of the most beautiful terroirs of Petite Champagne, in Salles-de-Barbezieux. This small traditional farm cultivates both vines and cereals while having a few animals. Coming mainly from Ugni Blanc, this Cognac was then distilled in a small still on the property by the distiller.
Old gold dress. On the nose, aromas of raisins, apricots and sun-ripened peaches, candied orange peels fill the glass. On the palate, the attack is frank and the power of its aromas is confirmed. The finish is quite woody, on fruits.
The last reduction, about five years ago, opened up the aromas while preserving its balance. The aging in our humid cellars gave it a nice texture.
