This vintage Cognac comes from a farm of around twenty hectares of vines called "La Petite Chapelle", located in the town of Champmillon. The two plots that produced this Cognac have been cultivated in organic farming since 1990 by a single woman, having taken over her father's activity when he died. It is, therefore, one of the oldest organic productions in the Cognac region.
This cognac is typical from a beautiful Fins Bois of ten years old, with its fresh fruit and citrus fruits fawner notes. On the nose, distillation aromas have left and it still stays fresh grapefruit notes, which reminds some white wines. There is also warmer notes of white peach skin at the sun, and apricot. In the mouth, freshness and naturality of this cognac are striking. We find again these fruity notes, but they are extended with more complex aromas, like a bunch of dried flowers forgotten on a table by a summer day. On final, floral notes are amplified (jonquil, narcissus), quickly overlapped by grapefruits notes, zest of orange, and fresh spices. A beautiful cognac.

The Baco 22 A is an original feature in France’s vine-growing landscape. It is a hybrid, offspring of Folle Blanche and Noah, invented by a schoolteacher from the Landes, one Monsieur Baco, in the wake of the phylloxera invasion. It is particularly well adapted to the sandy soils of Bas-Armagnac where it produces eaux-de-vie which are full and smooth with hints of ripe fruit, especially after a lengthy ageing period.
Tasting note:
Colour: A deep topaz hue with gold highlights.
Nose: the nose is marked mainly by sweet spices with hints of roasted coffee and cinnamon. A very complex nose.
Palate: The attack is pure/direct and lively. Very rich with a dominant of liquorice and preserved plume tannins. The finish is long marked by wood, toasted bread and spices.
After opening, the bottom of the glass is deep with hints of preserved plums and apricots.

Aged in oak barrels. This vintage bottled in 2016 has been aging for 29 years in oak barrels. This 1987 vintage is a powerful expression, fresh and fruit-driven on the nose. Hints of liquorice as well. It’s not as earthy as some other Armagnacs, but still definitely in the style and very enjoyable.
