Grosperrin ‘Cognac De Collection’ 1991 Petite Champagne 47.2% 700ml
This vintage cognac comes from an auction organized by ORECO in 2012. From the 1960s until the early 1980s, individuals could “invest” in cognac barrels. The lots were stored under state control, and often forgotten for several decades. So much so that some owners have… disappeared. Despite all the legal steps taken with the authorities, it was clear that there was no one left to claim these barrels. They were therefore auctioned off for the benefit of the storage organization, as decades of rent were sometimes due. The sale was organized by an auctioneer and two sworn brokers. This cognac is one of those truly forgotten barrels. Amber colour. Dense and rich nose, supported by notes of old balsamic vinegar. It seems older than its age, a sign of long aging in a “draining” cask, having caused healthy oxidation. Notes of red fruits bring freshness to this cognac. A creamy and very balanced palate, already with some rancio. Astonishing, and rare.
