The distinctive blue sugar cane that grows in the rich Volcanic soil of the island is fed by year-long sunshine. Harvested at its peak in 2020, the crops from this fertile land are unique, with heady aromas and flavours transferred from plant to spirit. During distillation, great care is taken over the slow reduction process to ensure a rum that?s full of richness, yet soft and smooth on the palate. Tasting Notes: Appearance: Refreshingly crystal clear. Nose: Undeniable fragrance of fresh sugar cane combined with hints of lime blossom and honey. Taste: Floral yet fresh, leaving a zingy sensation in the mouth.

?C?pages? translates from French as ?grape varieties?, and refers to the three different grape strains used in this Cognac bottling. These grapes are: Colombard, Folle Blanche and Ugni Blanc. Each grape provides something different: Colombard provides power and depth, Ugni Blanc gives structure and balance, and Folle Blanche lends high tones and finesse. Grosperrin are better known for bottling ultra specific, single varietal Cognacs, so this is an interesting step from the producer. Each of the grapes used to make this Cognac come from the premier cru of Grande Champagne. This Cognac contains a blend of several vintages, from 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. After distillation, the spirit was aged for a minimum of 4 years in French oak casks. The final product delivers notes of fresh bright grapes, apples, some acacia honey, dried flowers, peppery spice, vanilla, creamy butter, spiced oak, and toffee. Once again, Grosperrin have produced a VSOP that is a cut above other Cognacs in this age grade.

Darroze Grand-Bas Armagnac Blanche Baco 49% 700ml
$123.00
Often regarded as the grape variety for ageing of choice, this is a pure baco Armagnac, without any artifice, just as it was fresh from the still. In this intense nose, we perceive aromas both fruity (mirabelle plum, white peach and fresh grapes) and herbaceous (fennel, mint). A very pleasant nose. On the palate, this Blanche d?Armagnac is smoother, with a very dry profile. Very intense, this Armagnac offers a palate with a lot of volume. Spicy notes of chili peppers and pepper prolong the pleasure. Ideal for cocktails in a Margarita or mojito style, in association with vegetal aromatic profiles.

Darroze Grand Bas Armagnac Ugni Blanche 49% 700ml
$123.00
In Gascony, this grape is both used in distillation (over 50% of the distillation) and in the making of Cotes de Gascogne wines. It often brings balance and finesse. The nose is straightforward, moderately intense, smooth and very delicate, with typical aromas (grape, plum, quince) and more surprising ones (fresh cane, cane sugar). This Blanche is dry, without sweetness, silky and still very delicate. Beautiful aromas of bitter almond, vine flower and raisin reinforce this finesse. Very long on the palate. May be enjoyed on its own or as a long drink with combinations like cucumber, elderflower or orgeat syrup.
Darroze Blanche d'Armagnac 100% Folle Blanche 49% 700ml | Brandy | Shop online at Spirits of France
Darroze Blanche d'Armagnac 100% Folle Blanche 49% 700ml
$123.00
The Folle Blanche grape is the historical grape variety of Armagnac. For many years (even before the phylloxera crisis) it was the only grape variety planted in Gascony and was at that time known as the local Piquepoult. It produces very fine and delicate Armagnacs. The nose is very intense, very fruity (grapefruit, plum, fresh grapes) and spicy (Sichuan pepper). On the palate, this eau de vie is lively, precise, with aromas of fresh pineapple and mirabelle plum with vegetal notes. This could well be used as a variation in Martini dry, replacing the gin.
