The site of the property, close to La Rochelle, is the result of a strategic choice in the 19th century. At this time, the city of La Rochelle was the major export harbour for Cognac, both located on the coast and on the rail network. This exceptional site offers the perfect ageing for Cognac with a very natural regulation of hygrometry and temperature. In these cellars, there are only cognacs from Grande and Petite Champagne. Normandin Mercier belongs to the few best family cognac houses. Its originality has been to make some barrels from their many centuries old fallen oak trees. The grain of this wood is such that ageing takes half the normal time, and gives far better results. That was an unexpected discovery, reserved for their âLa Péraudièreâ Grande Champagne Cognac.
